“Zakat Accounting Training for Zakat Amil Institute (LAZ)”

Trunojoyo Madura University is carrying out international community service activities from 5 to 6 August 2024, with the Accounting Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, Trunojoyo Madura University actively participating in this activity. This international community service activity was carried out at the De Baghraf Hotel Sumenep involving national and international speakers/experts. This international community service was attended by 52 people consisting of zakat amil institutions, lecturers and students. National and international speakers/experts who participated in collaborating together as partners came from University College Bestari (Malaysia), National University of Malaysia (Malaysia), Gaziantep University (Turkey), Islamic University of Madura (Indonesia), Wiraraja University (Indonesia).

This international community service was carried out in the period from 5 to 6 August 2024, consisting of Focus Group Discussion (FGD) activities between experts and participants and implementation of service in the form of zakat accounting training for zakat amil institutions. The community service activity of zakat accounting training for zakat amil institutions begins with a pre-test related to the training material and then continues with a presentation of the material by panelists or experts. Three presenters in parallel delivered material related to zakat management, both in Indonesia and Malaysia. The speaker at this event was Prof. Zahri Hamat from University College Bestari and Dr. Nurul Ilyana Muhd ​​Adnan from the National University of Malaysia who explained best practices for managing zakat in Malaysia, and managing zakat potential in Malaysia. Then, the third speaker was Prof. M. Nizarul Alim from the Department of Accounting, Trunojoyo University Madura who delivered material on zakat management in Indonesia.

This community service activity lasts approximately 120 minutes consisting of 60 minutes of material presentation and discussion. The zakat amil institutions who were present were invited to convey their opinions and experiences as well as the challenges/obstacles experienced in managing zakat. After the discussion session ended, participants were guided by the host and committee to complete the post-test by scanning the QR Code. This community service event then closed with prayer and a group photo. The enthusiasm of the participants was very high as seen from the flowing and active discussions. The participants also hope that there will be further activities related to zakat accounting, through assistance from universities and related institutions as well as other programs or activities, such as equipping and assigning students to provide assistance at zakat amil institutions.
